Yellow foam inside a pillow? What kind of filling is this?

I know this is a random question but hopefully someone night know the answer.
My wife is looking to replace her pillow, she has had it for nearly 20 years, but she would like one with a similar filling.
Where the pillow is old and slightly ripped, you can see that it is a kind of yellow foam, like you get on foam footballs if you rip them up,

Any ideas would be great

You could try memory foam.

if it's a single piece of foam it sounds like it's a dunlopillo..I love them and they're the only pillows I use as I sleep on my front. They sell them in Argos but they are a bit pricey. (it's not memory foam as it hasn't been around that long)

poly foam, but it is not the same as 20 years ago now. For health reasons, sinus etc. you should replace a foam pillow ever few years. you get dust mites etc. living in their with the germs you get the picture. Macy's three grades of the best pillows, under $100.00 dollars, or get a Magnetic imprinted pillow for her to incress the blood flow and releave tension in her neck. I use one and it is great.

there are several types of foam used for stuffing pillows and furniture.
if you take the foam in your pillow to a Foam seller or furniture restorer he/she will be able to match the foam and supply a replacement….you can also choose what grade of firmness or softness you prefer…
some pillows contain layers of foam with a firmer middle section and a softer outer.
"Memory " foam is now very popular as it shapes itself to your head/neck and then returns to its original shape after use.

In recent times pillows have been filed with mad made fibers but from Roman times to 1921 pillows were filled with goose or duck down (The soft underneath feather from geese and ducks respectively).

In1921 there was a little known piece of law passed in the UK Parliament witch made it illegal to hurt geese or ducks (the RSPCA insisted on it). Since then it has been illegal to kill or give a hair cut to these lovely creatures.

Between 1921 and 1922 and a half pillows were filled with stiff custard, which as you know is usually yellow. After 1922 and a half they were filled with bay mice, which are surprisingly soft.

It looks to me like you may have been lucky and actually own one of those pillows produced in the 19 months from 1921. There are only 3 known exist (a lot get eat in the blitz by hungry people) and they are worth £1,456,976.56 each.

Whatever you do do not open it as the air makes the custard go off.

    Hope this helps.

    :-)

Daddy, slacken the purse strings a little. The same pillow for 20 years? What next sheets at a flea market?
